The 55th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Neurophysiology and the 62nd Technical Seminar of the Japanese Society of Clinical Neurophysiology will be held at the Okinawa Convention Center (Ginowan City) from Thursday, November 13 to Saturday, November 15, 2025. We have chosen Okinawa as the venue for this year's conference, a location that has never hosted an academic conference in its more than half-century history since the first Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Electroencephalography and Electromyography.
We regret any inconvenience caused by the access to the Okinawa Convention Center (a 50-minute bus ride from the center of Naha City). However, we are excited to welcome you to the venue, which is located by the beautiful beach in Ginowan, and we hope many of you will be able to attend. The theme of the conference is "Pragmatism-oriented Clinical Neurophysiology." Pragmatism is a scientific approach that seeks rationality through the criticism of experience and values. It is an empirical science that brings “fruit” to society by examining the object of study as a whole and illuminating it from various angles. We believe this is the very discipline our society, which values diversity, has been focusing on.
The practical application of clinical neurophysiology involves identifying neural activity related to physical functions such as motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. It also includes the measurement, processing, and interpretation of associated medical data, including anatomy, physiology, and bioengineering. A key prerequisite for achieving these goals is obtaining data according to standardized procedures and methods. On the other hand, a recent trend is to advance personalized medicine through data-driven approaches, such as stratification and subgrouping, which improve comparability.
We hope this conference will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary research that promotes collaboration and fusion across various fields of clinical neurophysiology. By bringing together experts from different disciplines, we aim to foster the exchange of diverse knowledge and skills.
Furthermore, the development and advancement of medical equipment and technology are indispensable to the practice of clinical neurophysiology. In addition to hands-on seminars and corporate exhibits, we plan presentations by medical device manufacturers and other innovators in the field of clinical neurophysiology at this year's conference.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Masato Matsuura, who has kindly agreed to serve as the on-site academic advisor for this year’s conference in Okinawa. We look forward to your cooperation and participation.
