It is being said today that the Asian Hemisphere moves the world.
All economic indicators show that East Asia is serving as the propulsion engine for the world economy.

When looking at a globe, you can see that Okinawa is located right at the center of this Asian Hemisphere and that it is truly filled with possibilities. I would like to discuss the advantages of Okinawa functioning as a base for physical distribution by turning Naha Airport into a hub airport, and particularly analyze its association with the Asian Hemisphere.

As is well known, a diplomatic wisdom that can keep the waves of the Pacific Ocean calm is needed in East Asian countries. Now is the time to reevaluate for the future the importance of Okinawa, which has prospered through trade with China since the days of the Ryuku Dynasty.

In today's lecture, I would like to look down at a globe and think with you all about East Asia's past, present, and future as well as where Japan and Okinawa should be headed. I will be looking forward to far-sighted and meaningful exchanges of opinions between us.
