Message from the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Toxicology

It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Toxicology. The Meeting will be held at the Okinawa Convention Center in Okinawa, on June 16 - 18, 2010.

In the first decade of this century life science makes exciting progress with developing molecularbiological technologies, which lead to produce novel medicines including biologics. On the other hand functional or healthy foods have been developed hand in hand with change of life style in human. Toxicological sciences have also greatly advanced in this decade, however, expression mechanisms of and prevention strategies for toxic injuries derived from drug or food chemicals in human have not been understood fully. Main theme of this Meeting is "Contribution of toxicologists for human health and safety" and we will focus on topics of new science and technology for an assessment of drug safety, in addition to cutting-edge topics in the various fields of toxicological sciences. The program includes several plenary and other lectures, 7 symposia, 7 workshops, and platform and poster presentations. In addition, the Meeting provides you with access to state-of-the-art exhibits and luncheon seminars. I believe that this Meeting offers a great opportunity for researchers in the field of toxicological sciences to exchange ideas and expertise as well as the opportunity to explore a new vision in the study of toxicology.

Okinawa is a fantastic place with a rich culture and beautiful ocean. I hope that you will have fruitful discussions through the exciting Meeting and enjoy local foods and culture.
I look forward to seeing you soon in Okinawa.

Yoko Aniya
President of the Meeting
