SDGs Initiatives – Contribute to Resolving Social Issues by Creating and Promoting Sustainable Interaction

Our business is to manage international conferences for resolving social issues, encourage academic and research presentations, including those of medical societies and related industries, and promote people interaction essential for this purpose. We support the “forum” for communication in various ways, which imparts knowledge about the new era, help in academic and industrial development and resolution of social issues while promoting sustainable growth of the business and employees, thus contributing to the realization of a society where “no individual is left behind” as stated in the SDGs.

Creating a sustainable “forum” for dialogue – Sustainable MICE initiatives

When organizing MICE, many people and goods move around, and there is a consumption of resources, due to which the environmental impact is significant.
In the “forum” for interaction created by Okinawa Congrès Inc., initiatives that lead to sustainable MICE, such as environment-friendly procurement and resource-saving measures utilizing information and communication technology, are implemented. By creating a sustainable “forum” for communication, Okinawa Congrès Inc. helps revitalize the host region and strengthen the brand power of the country and city, thus contributing to the resolution of social issues.

When organizing MICE, many people and goods move around and there is consumption of resources, due to which the impact is also said to be large.

Coral-friendly souvenirs

Japan’s first sunscreen that does not affect corals was adopted as a souvenir for the attendees of the international conferences and donated a part of the proceeds for the transplantation of coral reefs and marine conservation activities.

Environmentally friendly Congres bag

We proposed that bags used by the conference attendees to keep materials and souvenirs be made from “cassava”, which is the raw material for tapioca. The bags decompose naturally and return to the soil in about six months.

ID case and straps that returns to nature

For ID cases, instead of plastic, “marine biodegradable plastic” material that dissolves in seawater was used. We proposed the use of organic cotton for straps and metal for clasps.

Non-disposable containers

We distributed tumblers to the conference attendees and implemented initiatives to eliminate disposable containers such as paper cups during coffee breaks.

Creating a work environment that allows you to balance work with childcare and long-term care.

We have created a work environment where people can work with peace of mind while balancing work and child-rearing, regardless of gender. Through flexible work systems and telework selection, we aim to create a work environment where everyone can play an active role with peace of mind.
