2nd Congress of Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery

Dear Colleagues,

Following the great success of the inaugural Congress of Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS) held last year in Seoul, Korea, it is my great pleasure to announce that APTS 2017, our second congress meeting, will be held at Loisir Hotel Naha, Okinawa, Japan from November 1 (Reception) through 3, 2017. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the executive members of APTS for asking me to host this prestigious meeting. Here, on behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to formally invite all of our colleagues from across the Asia-Pacific region to participate in what we believe will be a valuable and stimulating event.

The main theme of the 2nd APTS Congress will be “New Frontiers of Thyroid Surgery.” Over the last two decades, a number of new technologies, procedures, and treatments have been developed and introduced in thyroid surgery. Energy devices, nerve monitoring systems, robotic and endoscopic procedures, and molecularly-targeted therapy are just some examples. The APTS2017 Congress will cover all aspects of thyroid surgery and thus provide many opportunities to learn more about the state-of-art developments in the field. Despite these advances, we still have some controversial issues in the diagnosis and management of thyroid cancer to discuss and try to resolve. So please share your experiences and latest knowledge with us by submitting papers, and join us at the meeting to help make APTS 2017 a key event in disseminating current information and updates across the Asia-Pacific regions.

We pleased to offer a unique social program and post-congress tour. Okinawa, in southernmost Japan, is a subtropical zone and has the culture different from that of Honshu, Japan’s main island. The first week in November is a wonderful season for sightseeing and sports, like scuba-diving and playing golf. We hope that these leisure opportunities will add to the enjoyment of your stay in Okinawa. At the conference, there’ll be plenty of chance to meet new colleagues and catch up with old ones, and we hope you’ll join us to share our collective expertise and deepen our friendships.

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS), it is my great pleasure and honor to invite you all to the 2nd Congress of the APTS in Naha, Okinawa, Japan, to be held November 1st to 3rd, 2017, at Loisir Hotel Naha.

With the theme of Multidisciplinary Progress in Thyroid Cancer Management for Contemporary Thyroid Practitioners, this congress was formed to establish scientific links across scholars in the Asia-Pacific region. High-profile faculty members from abroad will be invited and stimulating keynote lectures, symposia, and panel discussions in a variety of topics will be held, offering an opportunity to share the most to-date, cutting-edge perspectives and technologies related to thyroid cancer.

You are sure to have a wonderful time in Okinawa, Japan's southernmost prefecture. Located in the subtropics, Okinawa's islands are considered among the world's most beautiful, with crystal blue seas, white sand beaches, coral reefs, and beautiful flowers in any season.

We must work together to face the various issues and wide range of problems presented by thyroid cancer, and discuss solutions from medical, surgical, and many other points of view. We sincerely hope that this congress will play a central role in spreading current and updated information from Asia-Pacific to the whole world.
